Only Writers can edit unlocked pages within the site.
If there is a padlock icon on the EasyEdit button, then only Moderators or above can edit.
All Registered Users can comment on pages using the Threads.

If you are a Writer, here are some tips on editing pages:

Click on the "EasyEdit" button… and the toolbar will appear. Type in your new text, edit what's there, or paste in text from another document. You can use the formatting buttons in the toolbar to change the alignment and format of the text, just as you would with a word processing program. When you're satisfied, click on the "Save" button in the toolbar. A new dialog will then appear where you can leave an optional short note describing why you made this edit or text entry. These notes appear when you click on the "complete history" link in the "Last page update" area of the page
